CSS Drawing Bootcamp Residency

General Understanding: Prior knowledge of CSS isn’t required, but experience or a general understanding of creative coding is desirable.

Mentorship and Technical Guidance: Artist and UX Designer Ben Evans will lead the bootcamp. You’ll learn directly from an experienced practitioner in a supportive, creative environment.

Professional Development and Exhibition Opportunity: This residency culminates in an exhibition – use the bootcamp to develop a piece for the Paint by Style Sheet exhibition at the smaller Phoenix Cinema Gallery.

Compensation: We offer a bursary of £900 (inclusive of VAT and expenses) for your work in the exhibition, plus a separate budget for materials and lunch. This is your opportunity to showcase your art and be compensated for your creative contributions.

Access to Equipment: While we encourage participants to bring their own computers; a limited number of computers are available if needed. All software will be free/open source, and/or possibly browser-based.

The software we will be using is Koala and Visual Studio Code

What We Ask of You:

Commitment to Attend Both Days: The bootcamp runs on 1st-2nd April 2025, from 10:00 to 17:00 at NMAC’s CoLab at LCB Depot (31 Rutland Street, LE1 1RE). Full attendance on both days is essential. There is an optional additional two days allowed for troubleshooting/perfecting.

Dedication to Create New Work: We invite you to use this opportunity to create a new piece that will be featured in the Paint by Style Sheet exhibition. This work will be exhibited from 7th April to 4th May 2025.
