The CSR Group are currently recruiting for a Contracts Manager for a leading civil engineering contractor in Co Down who specialise in piling and groundworks. This role is a full-time, permanent position in Northern Ireland. Previous experience in the civil engineering construction sector is essential, ideally managing concurrent projects.

As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for providing the link between head office and the on-site management teams, offering solutions where needed and making sure the design, programming, technical and safety aspects of projects are on schedule.

  • Manage site staff and sub-contractors
  • Management and delivery of large civils projects, mostly in the energy sector
  • Plan and organise construction schedules; supervise and direct construction activities to meet project specifications and expectations
  • Report progress on the projects to the Senior Contracts Manager; maintain and update project reporting to a high standard
  • Meeting and liaising with clients to manage programme, safety, relevant stakeholders and other contractors
  • Keeping the Senior Contracts Manager and project team informed of all relevant aspects of technical & engineering issues that arise on the project
  • Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise
  • Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications
  • Assisting with the selection and requisition of labour, materials and plant
  • Assisting in efficiently recording all cost variations and the conclusion of final accounts
  • Proposing suitable changes to design to make savings, ease construction programme, enhance specification and quality
  • Ensure high standard of health and safety
  • Confidently chair and minute project meetings

This role may involve travel and overnight stays to site locations and as such you should have a flexible attitude to travel for work although the travel is not extensive.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in managing civils construction projects ideally in piling and groundworks
  • Degree / Higher Diploma qualification in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Knowledgeable and confident in dealing with clients, relevant stakeholders and authorities
  • Effective communication, supervision, and managerial skills
  • Must be a strong team player and be able to work on own initiative
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office and MS Project. AutoCAD proficiency is an advantage.
  • Strong programming and reporting skills
  • Ability to support site staff in meeting deadlines and managing workload
  • You must hold a valid CSR Site Supervisor/Managers Card, SafePass or SMSTS certificate
  • Full clean drivers licence
