Our client is a leading contractor operating across the UK and Ireland, delivering projects in sectors such as education, healthcare, commercial, and residential. With a strong reputation in the construction industry and an impressive pipeline of current and future projects, they are recognised as a market leader. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Manager to join their team. This role will involve working on large-scale projects valued at £20M+, and candidates should have a proven track record within a main contractor or specialist contractor environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of junior and project quantity surveyors
- Oversee accurate site measurement and valuation processes
- Prepare and manage budgets, including capital and operational expenditure
- Forecast costs and value in line with tender scope
- Monitor and report on key financial performance indicators
- Negotiate and agree rates for additional or varied work scopes
- Produce weekly and monthly commercial reports
- Manage risk, including reviewing and interpreting contract documentation
- Collaborate with senior management to plan, forecast, and report on project performance
- Consolidate contract data into monthly management accounts in coordination with finance teams
- Oversee cash flow forecasting, applications, and final account agreements
- Maximise commercial outcomes and manage contract variations effectively
- Support dispute resolution with clients and subcontractors
- Manage subcontract accounts from procurement through to final account settlement
- Assist in the development of subcontractor and supplier agreements
Candidate Profile:
- Degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor with 8-10 years' experience
- Strong knowledge of NEC and Design & Build contracts
- Commercially aware, innovative, and focused on delivering long-term value
- Proactive problem-solver with the ability to identify issues early
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
