Are you an experienced mechanical / electrical design engineer looking for a new challenge?
With experience in a similar role, you will be able to demonstrate the ability to bring a new perspective to a project and identify where additional practices or procedures would enhance the project delivery. You should be keen to take on fresh challenges and expand your existing knowledge and experience through a variety of exciting projects.
Responsibilities
- Attend post tender meetings with the Main Contractor/team to discuss Value Engineering/ Design Solutions
- Support the project team in regard to managing the design team (including external consultants/sub-contractors)
- Support the project team in the design process using commercial, contractual, programme and technical expertise.
- Investigate and implement (in conjunction with the Engineering team) alternatives & design proposals that will result in cost savings or other efficiencies (i.e. time)
- Present design alternatives to the Main Contract/team for approval (where required)
- Assist with ensuring that the design complies with our contractual requirements, current legislation, best practice etc.
- Assist with ensuring that design information is of the right quality and is issued in line with project timescales.
- Assist with reviewing drawings for technical errors, providing guidance as to best practice and mitigation of risk
- Ensure the operations team are updated with current best practices or particular risks
- Assist with the technical development of commissioning procedures
- Direct the operational staff as required into the technical requirements of the commissioning process
- Periodic reviews of the project commissioning process
- Review commissioning records for completeness, omissions and inaccuracies
- Support the operations staff in the management of the commissioning of the supply chain/sub-contractors
- Provide assistance in fault finding/rectification of any issues
- Support operations staff with post contract defect/issues analysis and/or rectification
- Manage the production of design / drawing information including setting up and monitoring progress by way of TIDPs and IRS for each project.
Qualifications
- 3rd level education in building services engineering or equivalent.
Experience
- Experience in design of MEP installations.
- Proven track record in a similar role.
- Driving License.
