Job Description

Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, on a 2/2/3 schedule! Plant maintenance to install, maintain and repair complex electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems such as large molding presses, robots, assembly fixtures, drill fixtures, paint/finish equipment, conveyors, and general plant facility type of equipment. Installs electronic-automation type equipment and control systems. Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electronic controls, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, controls, and mechanical equipment. Makes operating decisions in meeting the department’s objectives. Conducts P.M. programs. Participates in training programs. Participates, complies, and supports the environmental, health and safety system requirements. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence, and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills: Competence in personal computer. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, e-mail) and familiar with other database related software.

Experience

Utilise hand-held tools/machinery/instruments, both manual and powered, precision and non-precision. Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as plumbing, painting, greasing, oiling, grinding, drilling, disassembling and reassembling simple machine parts. Weld and cut with gas torches, troubleshoot machine controls, use standard machine tools such as lathes, saws, mills, and drill presses. Ability to follow maintenance procedures and maintain proper documentation, drawings, and files. Knowledgeable in hydraulic and pneumatic controls, materials, and components. Operate, set, and regulate/adjust machinery. Troubleshoot machine controls, disassemble, and assemble machine parts. Ability to install conduit, pipe, regulators, and hoses.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred, one to three years of related formal training, and/or one to three years of related work experience required. Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent form of two-years of college or technical school desired.

Physical Requirements

Requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires occasional lifting to 50 lbs. Requires exposure to machines, chemicals, and solvents. Requires hand dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to operate simple to complex machinery. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

Working Conditions

Will be required to work within the plant – factory environment where there is some exposure to noise, dust, fiberglass, and heat. Must adhere to PPE requirements as defined in the safety manual when in the manufacturing area.
