Position Summary:
CSN Collision is looking for an Auto Body Technician to join our team. The Auto Body Technician must be able to take a vehicle in a damaged state and repair or restore it to its original structural integrity, function, and appearance. The incumbent should be detail-oriented and capable of multitasking to accommodate shifting priorities.
Primary Objectives of the Auto Body (Collision Repair) Technician:
- Review damage reports and repair estimates, and plan the work to be performed.
- Thoroughly examine collision damage, including the complete vehicle exterior, power accessories, and warning lights, and identify any overlooked damages.
- Perform structural and complete body repairs: Repair and replace front end components, body parts, doors, frames, and underbody components. Assess, repair, or replace interior and exterior parts, electrical components, and vehicle accessories.
- Straighten bent frames using specialized equipment, hammer out dents and defects.
- Weld on vehicles using MIG and spot welders.
- Fully dismantle damaged areas to identify hidden damages early, including removing damaged panels and replacing or repairing windows and windshields.
- File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces using power and hand tools.
- Mask and tape surfaces in preparation for painting, and apply primers and paint.
- Fill holes, dents, and seams with soldering equipment or plastic filler.
- Restore vehicles to factory specifications.
- Inspect repaired vehicles and conduct test drives for proper handling.
- Read and understand repair estimates and procedures.
- Work with various metals, plastics, glass, electrical, and mechanical parts.
- Use frame and measuring equipment and perform disassembly/reassembly tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 3+ years of auto body repair and refinishing experience.
- Auto Body Collision and Damage Repairer (310B) Red Seal License or in a registered apprenticeship program (preferred but not mandatory).
- Certifications such as I-Car and OEM are advantageous.
- Must be able to lift 100 lbs, stand, sit, walk, and reach.
- Valid driver\’s license and own tools and safety footwear required.
- Up-to-date compliance training (AODA, WHMIS, Workplace Safety, etc.) and knowledge of PIPEDA.
- 3 to 5 years of experience with Mitchell/Audatex.
