The CEA Strategy & Insights team is a new team within CEA that aims to amplify CEA’s impact by creating clarity and building focus, through strategic, data-driven insights. As a center of excellence within CEA, we focus on the most impactful problems, bringing both internal and external perspectives to bear and working collaboratively with partners across CEA and broader CSL business.
Our key focus areas include:
- Actively monitoring and interpreting the external environment for media, social, and wider political/economic trends that may have potential impact on CSL
- Measuring CEA’s impact across our communications and policy work to support prioritisation and goal setting
- Cross-CEA project work to respond to key CEALT/GLG (Global Leadership Group) strategic corporate affairs questions
This role will support across all areas of the Strategy & Insights team but will primarily focus on monitoring the external environment. As an early joiner to a new team, this role will be critical in shaping the team as we build a future-proof CEA organisation.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Include:
- Establish and own our digital listening strategy, combining social media, traditional media and other digital channels, understanding topics, trends, influencers and sentiment to draw meaningful insight guiding CEA’s work
- Establish and own core digital listening dashboards across high priority areas, embedding their use in the business and driving impact from the insight they generate
- Develop and sustain the measurement framework used across CEA, establishing core principles for measuring the impact of communications across our internal and external communications, providing expert support to other communications professionals deploying the framework and driving measurable improvement in communications impact through regular reviews
- Provide critical insight and monitoring on key topics, audiences or geographies to the CEA Leadership Team, leveraging tools across channels and bespoke analysis
- Support broader cross-functional projects and initiatives within CEA
- Collaborating with Media team on improving targeting of external media activities through analysis of target outlets/journalists and relative impact on target audiences
- Collaborating with Internal Engagement team on measuring internal communication platform performance and leveraging insight to improve employee engagement
- Foster a culture of insight-driven corporate affairs work, advocating for the use of digital tools and data-driven approaches to inform our wider strategy and execution across CEA and building internal expertise in colleagues
- Work with global senior leaders on the effective utilization of metrics and analytics, preparing and presenting reports and presentations
Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, or a scientific discipline related field, or equivalent additional professional experience
- Further education (Master’s degree, MBA, PhD, professional qualification or equivalent) is preferred
- 7+ years of relevant experience in consulting, corporate affairs, academia or a related field
- Experience working in pharmaceuticals, biotech or vaccines - specific experience of plasma derived therapies is a plus
- Exposure to corporate affairs issues and questions - public company external positioning, government affairs interactions, industry association partnerships etc.
- Proven track record of using data and insight to influence senior executive decision making
- Experience operating in a matrix environment, collaborating across functions to drive outcomes
