As a Senior Director, R&D Data Stewardship COE, you will establish and lead a Center of Excellence (CoE) focused on data stewardship across the R&D organization. You will ensure that scientific and operational data are governed, curated, and maintained according to enterprise standards, enabling high-quality, FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data for research, development, and regulatory use. You will drive the adoption of best practices in data governance, quality, and lifecycle management across R&D domains.

Your Role

  • Build and lead the R&D Data Stewardship CoE, including defining its vision, operating model, and success metrics to ensure alignment with organizational goals
  • Develop and implement data stewardship frameworks, roles, and responsibilities across key R&D domains, such as clinical, regulatory, research, and safety
  • Collaborate with data owners, stewards, and domain experts to establish consistent data definitions, quality rules, and metadata practices across R&D systems
  • Partner with IT, data governance, and analytics teams to embed data stewardship principles into data platforms, workflows, and systems across the organization
  • Drive the adoption of data standards, ontologies, and controlled vocabularies across R&D systems to enhance data consistency, accessibility, and interoperability
  • Monitor data quality and stewardship KPIs, leading continuous improvement initiatives to address gaps in data governance and ensure data integrity
  • Provide training, tools, and best practices to empower data stewards and support the broader organization in adopting data stewardship practices
  • Champion data stewardship initiatives, ensuring that R&D data is maintained and used in compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements

Your Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Data Management, Information Science, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in data stewardship, data governance, or data management within an R&D or scientific environment.
  • Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, metadata management, and data quality principles.
  • Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation) and scientific data systems (e.g., LIMS, ELN, RIM).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and drive cross-functional teams toward data stewardship best practices.
