The Opportunity

We are seeking a strategic, highly collaborative Director, International Patient Advocacy to lead the development and execution of impactful patient advocacy strategies across the International region. This role will focus primarily on Immunodeficiencies and Inflammatory Neuropathies and will play a critical part in advancing patient outcomes while supporting CSL's business priorities. You will strengthen CSL's reputation and partnerships with key patient advocacy groups (PAGs) and other non‑government stakeholders across Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East/Africa. You will serve as the primary liaison for above‑market advocacy groups in the relevant disease areas and guide affiliate-level engagement to ensure alignment, consistency, and meaningful patient impact. This role is central to elevating the patient voice - helping CSL better understand patient experiences, needs, and priorities and embedding these insights into how we develop and deliver therapies.

The Role

  • Strategic Leadership & Partnership Development
    • Lead the development and execution of disease area–specific patient advocacy strategies focused on Immunodeficiencies and Inflammatory Neuropathies.
    • Build, strengthen, and manage CSL's partnerships with key patient advocacy groups and other non-government stakeholders across the International region.
    • Conduct stakeholder and landscape mapping to identify collaboration opportunities aligned with mutual priorities and patient impact.
    • Serve as the primary contact for above market patient advocacy groups and support country-level engagement across affiliates.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration & Expertise
    • Provide disease-area–specific advocacy expertise to the International Business Team (core member of the Immunoglobulins IBT), regional affiliates, CEA, and other functions.
    • Coordinate advocacy engagement across geographies to ensure alignment with CSL's cross functional priorities and to maximize partnership value.
  • Content Development & External Engagement
    • Lead the creation of external patient advocacy content, including messaging, campaigns, policy briefings, and other materials supporting advocacy priorities.
  • Governance & Compliance
    • Collaborate closely with the Head of Global Patient Advocacy & Policy, International Advocacy Directors, and Country Advocacy Leads through the CSL Patient Advocacy Network.
    • Ensure all advocacy engagements adhere to compliance standards, partnership best practices, and CSL's commitment to transparency and reputation protection.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Ideally 10+ years of experience in patient advocacy, healthcare public affairs, medical affairs, market access, or related fields—preferably across multiple geographies relevant to the International region.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing patient advocacy strategies and partnerships that drive business and patient impact.
  • Strong track record of building trust‑based relationships with patient advocacy organizations and external stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering multi‑channel advocacy content (e.g., campaigns, messaging, social media, policy materials).
  • Expertise navigating complex healthcare environments, ideally within the biopharmaceutical or plasma industry.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a matrixed, cross‑functional, and multicultural environment.
