The Head of EHS for the Seqirus Unit is accountable for developing and executing a comprehensive EHSS (Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability) strategy that ensures regulatory compliance, mitigates operational risks, and promotes a strong culture of safety and sustainability across all sites and functions within the business division. This role provides leadership, governance, and technical expertise to align EHS programs with corporate objectives and stakeholder expectations.

  • Responsibilities
    • Strategic Leadership
      • Develop and lead the business unit’s multi‐year EHSS strategy aligned with corporate EHS objectives and stakeholder expectations.
      • Integrate EHSS performance and risk considerations into business planning, operational decision‐making, and capital project development.
      • Influence senior leaders to prioritize EHS excellence and foster accountability throughout the organization.
    • Operational Oversight
      • Provide leadership and oversight to Site EHS Managers within the division to ensure consistency in safety protocols.
      • Align EHS initiatives with business objectives and stakeholder expectations.
    • Governance & Compliance
      • Establish and maintain business‐unit EHS standards, policies, and procedures in collaboration with Centers of Excellence (CoEs).
      • Ensure compliance with global, regional, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations across all CSL operations.
      • Implement governance mechanisms, including audits, performance reviews, and reporting systems, to ensure consistent and effective EHS program execution.
      • Coordinate internal and external audits to ensure the division meets Global, ISO 45001 (Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) standards.
      • Serve as the primary EHS point of contact for major business unit incidents, coordinating response and "lessons learned" sessions.
    • Risk Management
      • Identify, assess, and mitigate high‐hazard, process‐safety, and occupational‐health risks within the business unit.
      • Develop proactive strategies to reduce injuries, prevent incidents, and enhance operational resilience.
      • Lead risk‐reduction initiatives including hazard identification, control implementation, and verification of effectiveness.
    • Culture & Engagement
      • Champion a strong safety culture grounded in accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
      • Drive employee engagement through communication, leadership visibility, training initiatives, and recognition programs.
      • Strengthen organizational capability and EHS ownership at all levels, from frontline employees to executive leadership.
    • Technical Expertise & Support
      • Provide expert technical guidance on complex EHS matters, including regulatory compliance, hazardous operations, environmental controls, and worker health.
      • Ensure appropriate resource allocation, staffing models, and competency development to support robust EHS program execution.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration
      • Partner with Global EHS, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, HR, Legal, and Sustainability teams to integrate EHS considerations into key business processes.
      • Represent the business unit in enterprise‐wide EHS governance forums and cross‐functional initiatives.
      • Engage with external regulators, industry associations, and key stakeholders as needed on EHS‐related matters.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field required.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s, MBA) preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in EHS leadership roles, with a focus on commercial and affiliate operations.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing EHS compliance programs and risk management strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of global regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
