These roles are offered on a fixed-term basis to approximately Q1 2027. CSignum's operational plan is to transition assembly and test activities to a Contract Manufacturing Service (CMS) partner at that point.
About CSignum: CSignum Ltd is a Scottish technology company that has developed and patented Electromagnetic Field Signalling (EMFS), a wireless communication technology designed for underwater, underground, submerged environments where conventional wireless systems cannot operate and where access and conventional methods are neither practical nor appropriate. Our monitoring systems are deployed by water utilities, offshore energy companies, and maritime organisations across the UK, Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific. We are currently preparing ourselves for a ramp in demand and these roles are central to our ability to build, test, and deliver products to a growing international customer base.
Role Purpose: The Production Technician will be responsible for the hands-on assembly, testing, potting, and quality assurance of CSignum's EMFS hardware systems. Working closely with the engineering and operations teams, and directed by the Service Delivery Manager, the postholder will ensure that units leaving the facility meet defined performance and quality standards, and are correctly documented. This is a practical, detail-oriented role suited to someone who takes pride in the quality of their work, can follow technical procedures with precision, and is comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team where flexibility and initiative are expected.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly & Build
- Assemble CSignum hardware units in accordance with defined build procedures and engineering drawings
- Handle and solder electronic components, and connectors to the required standard
- Pot the assemblies with resin
- Complete cable preparation, harness assembly, and mechanical integration tasks
- Work to tight tolerances and maintain assembly quality throughout the build process
- Carry out functional and performance testing of completed units using defined test rigs and procedures
- Diagnose and resolve faults identified during testing, escalating where required
- Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Complete build records, test logs, and quality documentation accurately and on time
- Identify and report non-conformances, contributing to root cause analysis where required
- Maintain traceability of components and assemblies through the production process
- Support continuous improvement activities within the production function
- Receive, inspect, and log incoming components and materials
- Maintain an organised and clean working environment
- Flag stock shortages or quality concerns to the operations lead in a timely manner
- General
- Assist with packaging and shipment preparation
- Contribute positively to a small, collaborative team environment
- Comply with all relevant health, safety, and environmental requirements
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience in electronics assembly, electromechanical build, or a related technical discipline
- Proficiency in soldering and inspection
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly procedures
- Experience of functional testing and use of test equipment
- Strong attention to detail and a systematic approach to quality
- Good written communication skills for completing production documentation
- Self-motivated and capable of working effectively with limited supervision
- Experience working in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment
- Exposure to IoT or wireless communications hardware
- Knowledge of ERP or production management systems
- Experience contributing to or working within an ISO 9001-certified quality management system
