We are seeking a FLUTE specialist to expand our self‑employed Visiting Music Teacher team from September 2026. We do not currently have a flute teacher as part of our team, but we have several keen flautists in school and anticipate strong interest from students. There is good potential to grow your teaching practice here for a pro‑active candidate willing to undertake demonstrations and promotional activities.
Visiting Music Teachers play an integral part in our success and the one‑to‑one lessons they deliver complement an exciting curricular and co‑curricular provision. Our advent calendar available via https://linktr.ee/csgsmusic gives a good flavour of a year in the life of Chis and Sid music. As you will see and hear, our music programme is thriving, with performances in classical, jazz and pop styles valued and nurtured, annual music tours and productions.
Current teaching rates are £215 for a series of ten half‑hour lessons, equivalent to £43 per hour. Visiting Music Teachers (VMTs) are self‑employed and interface directly with parents with regards to the administration and billing of lessons, subject to the VMT agreement with the school. Lessons are scheduled as per the constraints of the school’s academic timetable – with students either missing the first or second half of their one‑hour academic lessons on rotation, with fixed slots reserved for students in examination years.
If you have any questions about this vacancy, please contact Mr John Ward, Director of Music via John.Ward@csgrammar.com.
Shortlisted applicants will:
- have a brief interview
- be asked to give a short performance
- teach a 20‑minute demonstration lesson to one of our pupils
Please note that we reserve the right to close the vacancy early if a suitable candidate is found. Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
