Head of Construction – Modular Buildings

Based: Yorkshire

Area Covered: UK

Due to continued growth, our client is looking to recruit a Head of Construction – Modular Buildings.

As they continue to grow at a rapid rate, they are looking for a strong, impressive, industry-leading candidate to join the business. They are offering a long-term opportunity for the right person, with a strong package and good development prospects to work across the UK.

They are looking for applicants with proven Construction Management, Project Management or Contract Management experience within Modular Buildings, alternatively they will look at candidates from within Main Contracting or Traditional Build or they would also be interested to speak to people with a strong track record in Other Forms of Off-Site Construction such as Timber Frame Buildings, Steel Framed Buildings or Bathroom Pods but all candidates must have JCT experience and also experience of BIM.

The business is very well established, has a strong brand and a great reputation selling to clients in Education, Healthcare, the MOJ and they also sit on various Frameworks so experience of working in those sectors would be beneficial to your application.

As a Head of Construction, you will oversee a Team of 4-6 Project Managers who will all be working on Projects ranging between £200,000 and £8,000,000. You will be Measured on Liaising with Clients, Building Relationships, Handing Jobs Over to the Client in Line with Contracted programs. All Jobs/Contracts to be conducted in a safe fashion, with sub-contractors effectively managed but overall, All Jobs/Contracts Finished on Time and On Budget with all Clients satisfied.

The Business has Multiple Business Lines, so it gives them Strong Financial Stability plus they have Unlimited Capability with the Factory they have and all Design is completed, In-House. In addition, they have a strong approach to Manufacturing, are open minded in their approach to developing their processes and overall, they are wanting to be a Leader of Manufacturing Modular Buildings / Off-Site Construction.

Before you apply, you must have experience of Construction Management, Project Management or Contract Management in Modular Buildings, Main Contracting or Traditional Build or Other Forms of Off-Site Construction including Timber Frame Buildings, Steel Framed Buildings or Bathroom Pods and you must have JCT experience and Experience of BIM, to work across the UK.

The most important characteristics and behaviors required for this role include drive, energy, strong experience and strong contractual and commercial expertise. They need candidates who are positive, flexible and are very much an out and out leader. They require someone who is self-sufficient, hardworking, is contractually minded and brings gravitas. Essentially though, they need someone who takes charge and gets on with running the department and jobs/contracts.

The key selling points of the role are they have had somewhat of a reset as business as they very much want to be an industry leader when it comes to managing high value projects. They are also very receptive to innovative ideas and very much have an open-door policy when it comes to improving processes and improving the quality of their systems within the business.
