Overview

In this leadership role, you drive health, safety and training across the mining site to support operational excellence. You will embed a strong safety culture, manage risk, and develop workforce competency while ensuring regulatory compliance. Reporting to the HSEC Manager, you will lead and mentor a team of HSEC and training professionals and coordinate audits and emergency preparedness. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape safety performance at scale and across site operations.

Pay / Benefits

  • Salary: $170k - $190k + Super + Bonus + Benefits
  • 5/2 roster (Mon-Fri)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the site Health and Safety Management System implementation and continual improvement
  • Advance safety culture through visible leadership and workforce engagement
  • Oversee risk management activities: hazardID, critical controls, inspections, safety assurance
  • Lead investigations into incidents and high-potential events with root-cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Develop and manage the site's training and competency framework
  • Oversee occupational health and wellbeing programs and health monitoring
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely regulatory reporting
  • Maintain and test emergency response plans and support site preparedness
  • Lead, coach and mentor a multidisciplinary HSEC and Training team

Key requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management, or a related discipline
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent)
  • 5-10 years' experience in health, safety and training leadership within mining, resources, or heavy industry
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and mining regulations
  • Experience managing safety management systems and leading incident investigations (ICAM, TapRooT, or equivalent)
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven capability to lead, coach, and mentor a multidisciplinary team
