We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to lead the delivery of a £4 million refurbishment project at a local leisure centre in Thurston, Suffolk. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on construction professional with a proven track record of successfully delivering refurbishment and public-sector projects within live or operational environments.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day site operations, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all on-site activities throughout the refurbishment programme.
  • Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and direct labour.
  • Maintaining site health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Driving programme performance and ensuring project milestones are achieved.
  • Conducting regular site meetings and progress reporting.
  • Managing quality assurance and snagging processes.
  • Liaising with client representatives, consultants and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory and company procedures.
  • Managing logistics and maintaining efficient site operations within a live leisure environment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Significant experience as a Senior Site Manager on refurbishment and fit-out projects.
  • Experience delivering projects valued between £2m and £10m.
  • Strong leadership and subcontractor management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Ability to manage programmes, resources and project delivery under tight timescales.
  • Experience working within public buildings, leisure facilities, education, healthcare or similar occupied environments would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
