A leading Main Contractor has appointed our client to recruit two ambitious Site Managers / Senior Site Managers for one of Central London's most technically impressive commercial refurbishment projects. This is a rare opportunity to join a flagship £65m retrofit and extension scheme that will transform a historic office building into over 100,000 sq ft of premium Grade A office accommodation. Originally dating back to 1910, the development combines heritage refurbishment with cutting-edge engineering and sustainability, retaining the majority of the existing structure while delivering a striking modern workplace.
The project includes:
- Major cut & carve refurbishment works
- Infilling of an existing central atrium
- Construction of two new additional floors
- A spectacular rooftop extension and terrace featuring an innovative cross-laminated timber (CLT) structure
- Complex façade and envelope packages
- Structural alterations and high-end commercial fit-out
- Delivery to industry-leading sustainability standards, targeting BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings.
Due to the complexity of the scheme, our client is looking to appoint:
- Senior Site Manager / Site Manager with strong façade and envelope experience.
- Senior Site Manager with a proven track record delivering complex commercial refurbishment, structural alteration or cut & carve projects.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, successful candidates will take ownership of key work packages, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the highest quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing subcontractors across multiple trades
- Driving programme and coordinating daily site activities
- Maintaining exceptional health & safety standards
- Managing quality inspections and ensuring first-time delivery
- Coordinating with design, commercial and engineering teams
- Leading client and subcontractor meetings
- Managing logistics and sequencing on a constrained Central London site
- Supporting project delivery through to completion
Requirements
- Experience working for a recognised Main Contractor
- Proven experience delivering commercial refurbishment, structural alteration or new build projects
- Strong knowledge of sequencing complex construction packages
- Façade/envelope experience is essential for one of the positions
- SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Driven, proactive and career-focused with the ambition to progress
