Our Client is a leading fire protection company based near Orpington, committed to providing exceptional passive fire safety solutions across the South East of England. With a strong reputation for reliability, professionalism, and compliance, they are now looking for a dedicated Health & Safety Manager to join their team.
The Role
As the Health & Safety Manager, you will take the lead on all aspects of health and safety across the business. You’ll be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously reviewing all health and safety policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure full compliance with current legislation and industry best practices. This is a key leadership role that will see you working both at the head office and on-site, conducting regular visits to active projects across the South East to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are consistently maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the health and safety function across the business, reporting to company director.
- Develop and maintain H&S policies and procedures in line with current legislation.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions.
- Carry out incident investigations and produce clear, actionable reports.
- Maintain accurate health and safety documentation and training records.
- Deliver health and safety training and toolbox talks to staff and subcontractors.
- Work collaboratively with project and site managers to embed a strong H&S culture.
- Ensure compliance with fire protection industry regulations and best practices.
About You
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) required; additional qualifications (e.g., Passive Fire Safety, Environmental, IOSH membership) desirable.
- Proven experience in a similar H&S management role, ideally within construction or fire protection.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
- Confident in producing and maintaining documentation and delivering training.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Full UK driving licence – willingness to travel regularly across the South East is essential.
