A leading Civil Engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Planner to join their Belfast-based team, supporting the delivery of a wide range of civils projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a Planner with a strong civil engineering background, ideally with rail or marine experience, to play a key role across both live projects and pre-construction activities.
The Role
Based in Belfast, you will act as a key point of contact for all planning-related activities, supporting project teams across multiple schemes. You will be involved across the full project lifecycle — from tender and pre-construction through to live project delivery — ensuring robust, accurate, and achievable programmes are in place.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for planning input on live civils projects
- Provide pre-construction planning support alongside the wider team
- Produce and manage detailed project programmes, including:
- Critical Path Analysis (CPA)
- Resourcing and cost loading
- S-curves and Earned Value Management (EVM)
About You
Qualifications:
- Degree or higher-level qualification in a relevant field
Experience:
- Proven experience in a Planner or similar role within civil engineering
- Experience delivering infrastructure projects (rail, marine, or similar preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of Powerproject, P6, and Microsoft Project
- Understanding of planning requirements across NEC, ICE, and JCT contracts
- Experience across various civil engineering sectors such as infrastructure, marine, energy, or geotechnical works
- Familiar with different procurement routes and planning methodologies
Desirable:
- Experience in claims, delay analysis, or forensic planning
