Rate: £33.88 per hour via Umbrella or £25.26 per hour PAYE (position Inside IR35)

Overview – What to Expect

As a Vehicle Integration Engineer / Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping new and existing vehicle architectures. You’ll lead the integration of new technologies within your assigned vehicle zone, ensuring delivery against functional and vehicle attribute targets. Acting as the voice of the customer, you’ll drive technical decision-making, lead arbitration activities, and ensure alignment across engineering functions to deliver world-class vehicle programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical leader and arbitrator for whole vehicle integration, ensuring compatibility with GRID, commodity/system strategies, and functional targets
  • Lead Group Functional Integration for assigned vehicles, driving complexity reduction and efficient technical solutions
  • Collaborate closely with the Vehicle Attribute Robustness team to ensure embedded design quality, serviceability, and manufacturing requirements
  • Drive progression of vehicle technical data including CAD, DV, AIMS, build, test, and release activities across engineering groups
  • Oversee alignment and delivery of Minimum Viable Product (MVP) through both virtual and physical verification and validation across the programme lifecycle
  • Resolve cross-group technical obstacles, ensuring timely escalation to Nameplate, Architecture, or Vehicle Engineering Manager (VEM) as required
  • Ensure prompt escalation of technical blockers or incompatibilities through the formal Obstacle Management process
  • Support study work and Agile spike activities to solve complex engineering problems
  • Champion agile ways of working and continuous improvement across programmes

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Strong automotive engineering background with deep understanding of complex system interactions, technical analysis, and decision-making
  • Advanced technical depth across vehicle, system, and component design, development, and delivery
  • Proven ability to interrogate and ratify technical standards, system assumptions, and component solutions
  • Excellent technical communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience leading teams to resolve complex issues using structured methodologies such as 8D and/or Six Sigma
  • Demonstrated project management experience delivering against complex programme technical requirements
  • Strong customer-first mindset, with a collaborative and solution-focused approach
  • Progressive thinker with a passion for innovation and awareness of key industry trends
  • Practical experience working within and championing Agile delivery models
  • Resilient leader with the confidence to challenge constructively, build trust, and influence at all levels
  • Proven leadership capability, able to motivate and lead cross-functional and functional teams
