We are currently recruiting for an experienced CMM Technician / GOM Scanbox Programmer to join a leading manufacturing environment based in Wolverhampton.

This is an exciting long-term contract opportunity, currently funded until March 2027, working with advanced metrology and dimensional inspection technologies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for programming and operating Zeiss GOM Scanbox and CMM equipment, supporting quality and manufacturing teams through accurate dimensional inspection and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and program Zeiss GOM Scanbox equipment to perform dimensional inspection of components and assemblies.
  • Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to perform dimensional inspection activities.
  • Conduct first article inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections in line with quality requirements.
  • Produce, analyse, and communicate dimensional inspection reports using metrology software, including:
  • Zeiss Calypso
  • Zeiss Inspect
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) requirements.
  • Verify and maintain inspection equipment in line with calibration and quality system requirements.
  • Develop and improve inspection programs, fixtures, and measurement processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure all inspection documentation and records are completed accurately and maintained in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within quality and manufacturing functions.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and provide technical support across the team.
  • Work with limited supervision, prioritising workload and making sound technical decisions within established procedures.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience programming and operating Zeiss GOM Scanbox equipment.
  • Experience programming Zeiss Calypso.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional inspection and metrology techniques.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
  • Experience producing and analysing dimensional inspection reports.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively support engineering and production teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline, or
  • Indentured Apprenticeship, or
  • Time-Served Apprenticeship relevant to the field of work.
