This highly specialized role operates at the intersection of brand identity, high-performance aesthetics, and cutting-edge digital visualisation. The designer will develop compelling graphic design languages, translate 2D concepts into complex decals and vehicle liveries, and visualise these themes across 3D automotive surfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- 2D Graphic Design Excellence
- Drive the creation and development of high-impact graphic design concepts based on design briefs.
- Visualise cohesive 2D graphic themes, typography, badging, and visual elements tailored to automotive products and components.
- 3D Graphic Design Execution
- Demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of complex 3D vehicle surfaces.
- Translate, map, and adapt 2D graphic layouts onto physical and digital 3D vehicle envelopes to ensure distortion-free, perfectly aligned replication.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
- Collaborate with Exterior, Interior, and Component Designers, and Clay/Digital Modelers to harmonise graphic design applications with the vehicle’s overall surface language and design intent.
- Visualization & VR
- Prepare highly detailed digital models for high-end rendering and real-time Virtual Reality reviews to facilitate design evaluations, immersive presentations, and senior leadership sign-offs.
- Workflow Innovation
- Explore, pilot, and integrate emerging design technologies including AI-assisted creation tools, generative design, and parametric workflows.
- Prototyping & Validation
- Prepare and scale 2D vector plots for physical decal and livery prototyping.
- Handle hands-on application and alignment of graphics onto physical surfaces.
Skills Required
- 2D Design Mastery – Expert-level command of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop.
- 3D Visualization – High proficiency in industry-standard visualisation and rendering software, specifically Autodesk VRED and/or Unreal Engine.
Preferred Tools
- Experience with polygonal modelling/mapping tools (Blender or Autodesk Maya) and familiarity with cutting-edge AI-assisted design applications (e.g., Vizcom).
Soft skills – Clear communication, strong organisation, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, exploratory environment.
Skills Preferred
- Graphic design mastery with a deep, intuitive understanding of diverse vehicle typologies, proportions, and surface languages.
- Uncompromising eye for detail, balance, and technical precision when executing graphic elements on complex 3D volumes.
- Proven ability to resolve spatial and technical challenges during the design phase, iteratively refining creative graphics into viable, production-ready applications.
- Familiarity with professional product development workflows (GPDS or similar).
- Ability to pivot between distinct brand aesthetics ranging from heritage-inspired motorsport liveries and performance decals to minimalist, tech-focused, or lifestyle-trend graphics.
Experience Required
- Proven experience in professional graphic design within the automotive sector, with a track record of successful decal, stripe, badge, or livery design programmes.
Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic/Automotive/Transportation Design, Industrial Design, Digital Modelling, or equivalent practical experience.
