The CS Group operates in the fixings and ironmongery sector. We have stock, infrastructure and a strong trade reputation and now need a leader to drive digital-led growth.
The Mission: You will be the lightning rod for the company. You own the P&L and report to the board. You will drive growth through the sales team while shaping performance, communication and culture and maintaining excellent customer relationships.
The Daily Grind: This is a hands‑on leadership role. You will manage a Burton‑on‑Trent-based team of 12 across sales, finance and warehouse. You will spend mornings driving sales and afternoons solving operational bottlenecks while reporting business performance to the board.
The Reality: You must combine youthful energy with seasoned leadership. You must be technically proficient in e‑commerce and brand building and grounded enough to lead a traditional team through rapid change. You move fast, take full ownership, and obsess over sales and profit.
The Blueprint: Your Core Responsibilities
- Brand & Digital Transformation: You will lead a total digital transformation following a Private Equity buyout, working with our digital team to drive and launch new digital solutions that modernise our brand and e‑commerce capability.
- Team Leadership & Operations: You will be a hands‑on leader for the Burton‑On‑Trent‑based team of 12 across sales, finance and warehouse, driving performance, communication and a culture of Extreme Ownership.
- Strategic Growth: You will own growth through the existing sales team and by identifying and onboarding new customers, relentlessly prioritising sales and profit to take the business to the next level.
- Financial & Board Accountability: You will own the P&L and report business performance to the board, translating day‑to‑day activity into clear financial outcomes and strategic insight.
The Payoff
Location: Burton-on-Trent. This role offers true ownership: you will run the P&L, lead a tight‑knit 12‑person team day‑to‑day, and drive the brand and digital transformation after a Private Equity buyout to accelerate growth and position the business as a national digital icon.
The CS Group DNA (Our Non‑Negotiables)
- High Agency & Extreme Ownership: You take full responsibility for results, make decisive calls without waiting for permission, and hold the team to the same standard.
- Relentless Resourcefulness: You squeeze maximum impact from every pound and hour, deploying lean, creative solutions before asking for capital.
- Product & Quality Obsession: You insist on a market‑leading user experience and sweat the small details that make the brand iconic.
- High Velocity: You prioritise swift, decisive action and drive the pace of the transformation because 'on time' is late.
- Failure as Fuel: You treat setbacks as data, iterate quickly, and use those lessons to prevent repeat errors.
Final Comments: You want to run and grow a business, not just manage one, and you wake up thinking about sales, margins and customer experience. You are energised by hands‑on leadership, comfortable with e‑commerce and brand building, and willing to get stuck into the operational details that make growth possible. You take personal responsibility for outcomes, move fast, learn from mistakes, and obsess over the small things that turn a good company into an icon. If that sounds like you, we want to talk.
