We are seeking a skilled and motivated Plant and Garden machinery technician to join our small team. The successful candidate will handle customer enquiries regarding sales and technical support both over the phone and in person, carry out diagnostics and repairs on plant and garden machinery, and maintain an organised parts department. This role also involves liaising with suppliers (including international contacts) to arrange shipments of parts and occasional travel to customer sites to perform repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to technical sales and repair enquiries by phone, email, and in person.
  • Diagnose and repair a wide range of plant and garden machinery.
  • Manage and organise the parts store, including inventory control, labelling, and stock categorisation.
  • Communicate with suppliers (both UK and abroad) to source parts and arrange shipments.
  • Visit customer sites to carry out on-site servicing and repairs when required.
  • Provide accurate technical advice and support to customers and colleagues.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and customer interactions.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company standards.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in plant, garden, or small engine machinery repair (essential).
  • Strong technical understanding and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Ability to organise and manage stock effectively.
  • Competent with computers for logging jobs, parts ordering, and email correspondence.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of parts systems and stock management software.
  • Mechanical or engineering qualifications (not essential).
