About this role: The role is responsible for providing effective support to the Safeguarding team in relation to external matters, including MyConcern support, meetings, investigations, and providing cover when necessary. It also contributes to the successful delivery of the Club’s safeguarding mission, strategy, and policies, ensuring full compliance with Premier League standards and best practice. In addition, the successful candidate will act as the Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) on matchdays, ensuring that all safeguarding protocols are consistently followed, with a focus on supporter and staff welfare and safety. The role ensures that the Premier League ‘Safer Experiences’ standards remain fully up to date and audit-ready, while providing safeguarding oversight for all events and matches at Selhurst Park Stadium, and offering support to other venues as required.
Responsibilities:
- Working with the Head of Safeguarding to implement and promote the Club’s safeguarding policies and procedures across the Club.
- Assisting the Safeguarding team in maintaining a safe working environment by keeping accurate and confidential records.
- Contributing to evidencing, maintaining, evaluating and improving the Club’s Safeguarding Provision.
- Advising others working with vulnerable groups on the implementation of organisational policies and procedures.
- Proactively promoting and raising safeguarding awareness including the developing and delivery of relevant training, inductions and workshops to colleagues.
- Provide safeguarding support to the U12-14 Women’s academy.
- Assisting the Head of Safeguarding to manage safeguarding concerns, investigations and referrals to football and/or statutory authorities.
- Support and coordinate additional initiatives as directed by the Head of Safeguarding.
- Work with the wider safeguarding team to support the Premier League audit process.
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Officer, reporting and recording concerns in a timely manner and escalating in line with Club policy.
- Working together in partnership with football and statutory authorities, key partners and peer organisations to share information to manage risk, to strengthen safeguarding arrangements and share good practice.
- Coordinate the Clubs Safeguarding Champion network.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required by line manager.
Upholding and promoting the Club’s policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.
Match Day Responsibilities:
- Pro-actively promote and raise the safeguarding awareness throughout the Club including on match days.
- Designated Safeguarding Officer for match days; First port of call on match days for any safeguarding related incidents or concerns.
- Support the management and coordinating the Ball Stewards for match days.
- Provide oversight, support, professional advice and risk assessments for activities involving children and adults at risk, including Mascots during events and match days.
- Follow up on all safeguarding incidents during events and match days, including supporting and liaising with spectators.
- Recruit, support and grow the network of Safeguarding Champions across the Club. Provide regular workshops and initiatives.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
- Relevant and up to date safeguarding training and experience.
- Experience working directly with vulnerable groups in a safeguarding capacity.
- Experience in delivering training to a multitude of stakeholders.
- Experience acting as Designated Safeguarding Officer for events or organisations.
- Experience providing administrative support.
- Willingness to complete relevant safeguarding training as directed.
- An excellent communicator (including written, oral and presentation) with report writing skills.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups.
- Approachable and have excellent interpersonal skills.
