About this role: Crystal Palace FC is looking for an outstanding Soft Tissue Therapist to lead the provision of soft tissues services to the First Team squad (and high-potential Academy players) and continually seek to improve the quality of this provision in order to enhance player performance, reduce injury risk, and minimise the time taken to recover from injury.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre and post training soft tissue treatment to ensure optimum condition of players during daily training.
  • Provide pre- and post-match soft-tissue therapy and recovery support for First Team players, including overnight stays at team hotels when required, and take responsibility for the preparation, transport, and matchday set-up of medical equipment and consumables.
  • Assess and manage musculoskeletal problems which would be amenable to soft tissue therapy.
  • Treat injured players in conjunction with the medical team to ensure optimum recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Implement regular soft tissue screening for players and devise injury prevention management plans specific to the players’ needs.
  • Work with the interdisciplinary team to individualise treatment and recovery strategies in accordance with the team periodisation.
  • Attend all home and away fixtures (including European travel).
  • Maintain detailed and comprehensive clinical notes on the Smartabase electronic health records system.
  • Communicate regularly with colleagues and key stakeholders to update on player status.
  • Support the effective operation and maintenance of medical treatment environments across the training ground and stadium, including oversight and replenishment of clinical consumables and travelling medical equipment.
  • Participate in a programme of structured CPD specific to your individual needs, in the context of the wider departmental priorities.
  • Support the rostering of casual soft tissue therapy staff (as required).
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required by line manager.
  • Upholding and promoting the Club’s policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

Required:

  • A minimum 2 years’ post‑qualification experience with evidence of working in a professional sporting environment.
  • Level 5 qualification in Sports Massage.
  • Exceptional communication skills including the ability to communicate concisely, assertively, and effectively at all levels and across various professional disciplines.
  • A track record in treating professional sports personnel to ensure the highest standard of service is provided to the players at all times.
  • Detailed awareness of Safeguarding procedures, and how to recognise and elevate concerns.

Desirable:

  • BSc in a relevant subject.
  • Qualifications and experience in the use of alternative soft tissue treatment modalities which can be appropriately, safely, and effectively used to treat professional footballers.
  • Advanced Trauma and Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF) qualification.
  • FA Safeguarding Certification.
  • Proficiency in an additional language (e.g., French, Spanish).
  • Knowledge of FA Whereabouts procedures.
