Responsibilities
- Support the monitoring, profiling, and evaluation of all Women’s first team squad players.
- Assist with monitoring strategies that assess the physical condition of Women’s first team players and provide recommendations to minimise injury risk and optimise performance.
- Support the data collection and analysis of technical, tactical, physical and other relevant data, and provide data‑driven insights to key stakeholders.
- Assist in designing and implementing evidence‑based protocols for return‑to‑train and return‑to‑play, and support training reintegration alongside the medical department.
- Build and maintain effective professional relationships with the Medical & Sports Science Department and the wider club network to support operational delivery.
- Keep up‑to‑date with the latest scientific and technical innovations to ensure best Sports Science practice is implemented within the club.
- Liaise with the Academy Medical & Sports Science Department to support a safe and efficient transition for players between the Academy and Women’s First Team.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the line manager.
- Uphold and promote the club’s policies, including Health & Safety, Safeguarding, and Equal Opportunities.
Qualifications
- Essential: MSc in Sports and Exercise Science or a related discipline.
- Good understanding of sports science and allied disciplines and their impact on athletic performance.
- Experience as an applied practitioner in sports science, ideally within an elite or high‑performance environment.
- Experience using coding languages (RStudio, Python) and visualisation tools (PowerBI, ggplot) to store, analyse and visualise data.
- Experience supporting scientifically underpinned assessment, monitoring and evaluation procedures.
- Experience with data management systems (e.g., Smartabase) to ensure secure, efficient storage of data.
- Strong communication skills, able to influence stakeholders while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Professional and flexible approach to working hours to adapt to a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong IT skills with high attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
- Desirable: Laboratory and field‑based assessment experience (VO2max, lactate, force‑velocity profile).
- Desirable: Knowledge of database or cloud solutions (SQL, AWS, Fabric).
- Desirable: Experience or interest in women’s football or women’s elite sport.
- Desirable: Professional Strength and Conditioning qualification (UKSCA, ASCA, or NSCA).
- Desirable: BASES Accreditation.
