We are seeking an experienced and proactive Fleet Manager to join our team on a 3-month temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated transport professional to take ownership of our fleet operations, ensuring compliance, maximising vehicle availability, and supporting the day-to-day running of our fleet function.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing fleet performance, maintaining legal compliance, and ensuring our drivers have the support they need to operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the company fleet, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant, and available for operational requirements.
  • Maintain accurate fleet records, including vehicle registrations, insurance documentation, servicing schedules, MOTs, fuel usage, and traffic or parking fines.
  • Plan and coordinate vehicle servicing, preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections to minimise downtime and maximise fleet utilisation.
  • Lead the management of vehicle defects by reviewing weekly audits and ensuring all reported issues are resolved promptly in line with company procedures.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing guidance and resolving vehicle-related issues efficiently.
  • Coordinate roadside assistance, vehicle recovery, and replacement vehicles in the event of breakdowns.
  • Ensure driver licence checks are completed and monitored in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Maintain fleet management systems, ensuring all records are accurate, up to date, and audit ready.
  • Monitor fleet performance, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and vehicle downtime, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Produce weekly KPI reports and management information for senior leadership, highlighting operational performance, compliance, and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure transport operations comply with all relevant legislation, company policies, and health and safety requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fleet performance, compliance, and operational efficiency.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a Transport Manager, Fleet Manager, or similar transport operations management role.
  • Full clean driving license.
  • A strong understanding of fleet management, vehicle compliance, and transport legislation.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with drivers, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Experience producing performance reports and analysing KPIs.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and fleet management systems.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
