Deputy Children's Worker - Full Time - 2:4 shift pattern with Sleep-ins

This role involves leading a dedicated team in providing therapeutic care to children and young people in residential homes.

The Deputy Care Manager will support the Registered Manager and ensure high standards of care, compliance, and staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead care practices in the home and deputise for the Registered Manager.
  • Oversee staff supervision, development, and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Work directly with children to promote positive relationships and outcomes.
  • Plan shifts, allocate resources, and maintain smooth day‑to‑day operations.
  • Support the development and implementation of individual care and therapeutic plans.
  • Collaborate with external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for young people.

Essential Qualifications

  • 1 year’s experience in a supervisory or management role in residential care.
  • 2 years’ experience working in residential childcare.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Willingness and ability to complete Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification.
  • Excellent understanding of child development, trauma‑informed practice, and safeguarding.
  • Proven team leadership, organisation, and delegation skills.
  • Knowledge of regulations and legal frameworks in residential care.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and sleep‑ins.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Level 5 qualification in Leadership & Management.
  • Experience managing staff performance and leading team development.
  • Experience supporting Ofsted inspections.
  • Prior experience overseeing aspects of the home in the absence of the Registered Manager and Deputy.
