As a Kitchen Assistant, you will assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in keeping everything clean and tidy when preparing meals. Working within the kitchen is a fast-paced role, therefore communication and teamwork are mutually important. Prioritising your workload, getting tasks done and pride in your work is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To help to prepare a variety of meals which are appealing, nutritious and centre around residents' preferences, requests or any special dietary requirements.
  • To ensure the home is a friendly, supportive working environment.
  • To understand and comply with statutory and legal requirements such as HACCP, Health and Safety, COSHH, Environmental Health, ensuring a safe environment within the home.
  • Maintain cleaning schedules that meet the requirements of the HACCP Manual, and ensure that all areas of the kitchen are immaculately clean. This will include the washing up of pots, pans and dishes where required.
  • Ensure stock rotation is taking place to maintain optimum freshness of all foodstuff ensuring the highest quality expected within the care home.
  • Responsible for all kitchen equipment ensuring it is in full, safe working order, reporting any damage or faults to the Head Chef, Maintenance Person and General Manager.
  • To be understanding towards residents and their needs.
  • To support the Lifestyle team with culinary-based activities.
  • To be able to undertake other tasks deemed appropriate by the General Manager.
