Are you looking for a new opportunity within a Care Setting? We are actively recruiting exceptional, caring individuals who want to join our team at Merceode Lodge, Marchwood, Southampton! Your role will be based in Merceode Lodge which is well under construction and set to open early December 2025! Oyster Care Homes are focused on making our homes not just luxury places for our residents to live, but also wonderful places for our team members to work.

As the Maintenance Officer, you will make sure Merceode Lodge has a clean and well-maintained environment so that residents feel at home and staff can do their jobs well. Creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere is part of our commitment to delivering first-class care and support. You will play a key role in supporting the Home Manager and will oversee the maintenance and safety of the home, ensuring all aspects of the building and grounds are well kept, ensuring service delivery is unaffected. You will make health and safety your priority and ensure the highest standards are delivered at all times according to legislative guidelines.

Key responsibilities:

  • To carry out repairs and maintenance tasks within the individual's capability in all areas of the home as requested by employees and the General Manager, complying with the care home's policies and procedures manual.
  • To understand and meet statutory and legal requirements such as Food Safety, Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety, to maintain a safe environment throughout the care home.
  • To carry out specific maintenance and regular safety checks (including fire) as identified in the maintenance check list, keeping accurate, up to date records of the checks. Reporting any deficiencies to the General Manager and following these up promptly.
  • To respect residents at all times, especially their individual right to privacy, dignity and choice, incorporating residents' needs and requirements into your work routine so that the care home is pleasant to both live and work.
  • To liaise with the General Manager ensuring the care home is maintained in good decorative order, the environment is comfortable, friendly and has a 'homely' feel for the residents.
  • To liaise with external contractors entering the home when carrying out authorised work to ensure that all requirements relating to Health and Safety and the Health & Social Care Act legislation are fully met.
  • To maintain the grounds and garden areas, keeping them in a neat and tidy condition.
  • To be approachable and interactive with colleagues, contributing to team meetings and helping team members as appropriate. Ensure that care home is a friendly and supportive caring environment.
  • You will be required to be on call in the event of an emergency.

We will offer FULL Induction Training Programme, PAID Breaks, FULLY FUNDED Uniform, FULLY FUNDED Blue Light Card, FULLY FUNDED Enhanced DBS Check, Refer a Friend BONUS Scheme, PAY Day Breakfast, FREE Meal on Shift.

Hours of work: (09:00-17:00) and you will be expected to work Monday-Friday, which equates to an average of 40 hours per week in total. Hourly Rate of Pay: £15.50.
