Who You Are:
We are seeking a hands‑on VP, Systems Engineer to own and evolve mission‑critical infrastructure. This is a London‑based role with required travel to data center sites. The role is for a senior individual contributor rather than a management position, and success is measured by systems personally built, operated, and improved in production. You will blend strategic thinking with deep hands‑on execution, working both at the keyboard and in live production data centers. This includes physical systems work such as racking hardware, in‑person troubleshooting, and full participation in incident response and remediation. The role balances building, operating, and improving systems over time, rather than focusing exclusively on firefighting or greenfield design.
What You’ll Do:
- Hybrid Infrastructure Ownership – personally design, build, deploy, operate, and maintain a hybrid infrastructure spanning cloud services and on‑premises data centers that support high‑reliability financial systems.
- Data Center Operations – regularly perform hands‑on work in live production data centers, including rack‑and‑stack, hardware installation and replacement, cabling, and in‑person troubleshooting. Travel to data center locations is a normal and expected part of the role.
- Automation and Configuration – implement and operate automation, configuration management, and infrastructure‑as‑code to deploy and manage systems at scale. Actively eliminate manual toil through scripting and tooling while maintaining operational reliability.
- Monitoring and Observability – establish and maintain end‑to‑end monitoring and observability for systems you personally own and operate in production. Define signals, dashboards, and alerts, and drive remediation efforts across both infrastructure and application layers.
- Incident Response and Reliability – take direct ownership of production reliability. Participate in on‑call rotations, lead live incident response, perform root cause analysis, and implement durable fixes to prevent recurrence.
- Security and Compliance – ensure systems are hardened, patched, and operated in line with security and compliance requirements expected in financial and digital asset environments. Partner with security teams to remediate risks and support audits where required.
- Cross‑Functional Execution – work directly with engineering and product teams to support deployments, capacity planning, and system evolution. Provide practical infrastructure input grounded in operational reality, not theoretical architecture.
- Continuous Improvement – independently identify weaknesses, risks, and improvement opportunities across infrastructure. Drive initiatives from idea through execution with minimal oversight and clear ownership of outcomes.
What We’re Looking For:
- 7+ years of hands‑on experience as a systems engineer or equivalent role supporting production infrastructure.
- Deep, practical Linux systems experience in production environments, including supporting applications from the infrastructure layer through server configuration, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
- Demonstrated experience operating both cloud and on‑premises infrastructure. This role is not cloud‑only and requires comfort managing operating systems, networking, and hardware directly rather than relying solely on managed cloud services.
- Prior hands‑on experience working in physical data centers, including installing, servicing, and troubleshooting physical servers in live environments.
- Strong automation and scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar) and experience with configuration management or infrastructure‑as‑code.
- Senior‑level experience designing and operating monitoring and observability for production systems, including metrics, logging, alerting, and remediation.
- Familiarity with core networking concepts such as TCP/IP and DNS sufficient to diagnose and resolve system‑level connectivity issues independently.
- Proven production ownership, including participation in on‑call rotations and live incident response.
- Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight, including identifying work, driving execution, and owning outcomes.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required and perform physical work in data center environments.
Bonus Points:
- Experience in fintech, crypto, trading, or other high‑reliability financial systems environments.
- Exposure to blockchain or digital asset infrastructure such as validators, nodes, custody, or staking systems.
- Experience with containerized workloads and orchestration platforms in production.
- Background in high‑performance, low‑latency, or compute‑intensive systems.
- Familiarity with security operations, compliance frameworks, or regulated production environments.
What We Offer:
- Competitive base salary and discretionary bonus.
- Company‑paid health and protective benefits for employees and their eligible dependents.
- Free virtual coaching and counseling sessions.
- Opportunities to learn about the Crypto industry.
- Smart, entrepreneurial, and fun colleagues.
- Employee Resource Groups.
*Benefits may vary depending on location.
