We’re looking for a Human Factors Engineer to join our growing team and contribute to a wide range of projects across all phases of development. You’ll work closely with clients, project managers, and engineers to deliver high-quality, insight-driven solutions that improve usability and reduce risk in medical device development.
Crux is a specialist consultancy at the forefront of medical device development. We partner with top-tier pharma clients to deliver innovative, safe, and user‑centred solutions that transform healthcare. You’ll be part of a talented and collaborative team, helping to evolve our Human Factors capability and contributing to the development of new processes and approaches.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and carrying out usability and Human Factors activities
- Ensuring user needs are identified and met through integration of usability in product development
- Analysing data to generate tangible and feasible design solutions that improve usability and reduce use‑related risk
- Liaising with external suppliers to enable efficient execution of Human Factors studies
- Producing clear, concise written reports and presentations
- Managing client expectations and communicating confidently with stakeholders
- Building trusted relationships within existing client accounts
- Giving constructive feedback to colleagues and supporting team development
- Presenting ideas to colleagues and clients with varying levels of technical knowledge
- Promoting awareness of usability and contributing to Crux’s growing Human Factors capability
- Proactively developing knowledge of relevant regulations, processes and best practices
What We’re Looking For:
- Educated in a Human Factors related subject (Product Design, Engineering, Psychology)
- Robust understanding of Human Factors techniques and usability principles
- In‑depth understanding of Human Factors guidance documents and standards for medical device development
- Experience in evaluating and improving designs based on sound usability understanding
- Skilled in moderating user research and putting participants at ease
- Experience in data capture, analysis and report writing with a proven ability to synthesize a lot of information and distil it into meaningful design recommendations
- Strong report writing skills
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills
- Exceptional planning and organisational skills
- Great attention to detail
- Flexible and accommodating work ethic
