Crux is looking for a talented Advanced Applied Sciences Engineer to join our growing team, to provide scientific engineering knowledge including analytical, theoretical, and experimental capabilities. You will apply scientific analysis techniques to understand complex mechanical and fluid problems and generate new system insights. The role involves a range of activities such as exploiting physics-based solvers and state-of-the-art experimental techniques to explore the performance of engineered systems, employing research methods and general computational modelling expertise to projects while expanding the overall simulation capabilities of the team.
Principal Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver work in complex math modelling and simulation expertise.
- Executing detailed FEA studies using Abaqus, focusing on structural integrity, material behaviour, and stress analysis, particularly with polymers.
- Rapid prototyping, lab testing and design of experiments.
- Generation of concepts and layouts of systems in CAD, detailed design of components and products in CAD, production of detailed drawings and manufacturing specifications and transfer of designs to manufacture through liaison with external suppliers.
- Tolerance and sensitivity analysis.
- Design and execution of device verification programmes.
- Write technical reports and produce high quality design documentation.
- Provide expertise and support the development of Crux’s technical capabilities in these areas.
- Work alongside and have the ability to communicate the value of your work confidently and authoritatively to client teams.
- Build new trusted relationships within existing client accounts and pursue opportunities and referrals for selling into these accounts.
- Scope, define and estimate on small quotes.
- Keep up to date with the latest innovations in the industry and spread knowledge through the team.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Achieved a first or high 2:1 classification in a relevant accredited degree program.
- Strong understanding of engineering & design (including maths and physics).
- Experience in computational modelling such as FEA or CFD.
- Experience with Abaqus.
- Coding (particularly Python and Matlab).
- Proficient in CAD.
- Knowledge of engineering materials.
- Experimental and/or prototyping skills.
- Appetite for solving difficult and unusual problems.
- Ability to work within multiple cross-disciplinary teams and be client facing.
Desirable
- Experience in a consultancy environment.
- Experience in the medical, pharma or health industries.
