Role Description The Skilled Groundworker role is a full-time, on-site position based in Edinburgh. Day-to-day responsibilities include carrying out groundworks such as excavations, installing drainage, and preparing sites for surfacing and road construction. The role involves assisting with minor civil engineering activities, supporting road and footway surfacing operations, and ensuring all work is completed safely and to specification. Skilled Groundworkers are expected to maintain a clean and organized work area, operate appropriate tools and machinery, and follow health and safety procedures at all times. Collaboration with site supervisors, engineers and other trades is essential to meet project timelines and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess relevant site accreditation, such as a valid CSCS or CSCS Card, demonstrating competency for construction and groundworking tasks.
- Candidates should possess strong Groundworks skills, including experience with excavations, drainage installation, and general site preparation.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of construction site health and safety, safe use of hand and power tools, and the ability to follow method statements and risk assessments.
- Candidates should possess previous experience in civil engineering, surfacing, or infrastructure projects, along with strong teamwork, communication, and reliability.
- Candidates should possess a full, clean driving license and the flexibility to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and to travel to different sites as required.
