About Us

The CRUK Scotland Institute is a cancer research institute, situated in Glasgow with approximately 250 researchers split across 30 research groups consisting of PIs, postdoctoral scientists, PhD students and scientific officers. It is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres, supporting cutting-edge work into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. Supported by Cancer Research UK and additional funding from external grants and industry partnerships, we aim to accelerate discoveries that transform cancer treatment.

Position Outline

We are seeking a Translational Scientific Officer to join the Translational Research Collaborations Unit (TRCU). This team operates at the interface of academia and industry, driving projects that translate innovative science into novel cancer therapies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct standard cell biology techniques, including 2D and 3D culture systems and cell death assays
  • Perform in vivo experiments (experience with mice required)
  • Maintain accurate records and manage samples/reagents
  • Adapt to dynamic priorities and work under confidentiality agreements

Experience with cancer models is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for motivated candidates. There may be some requirement for out of hours working.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a detail-oriented scientist who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills, resilience, and adaptability are essential. You must be qualified to at least degree level. The post holder will report directly to Dr. Valeria Pavet, Head of TRCU.
