Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per year + Overtime

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00 (Includes 1-hour break. Flexibility required for occasional breakdowns).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and reliable Workshop HGV Mechanic to join our team in Lincoln. In this vital role, you will hold responsibility for ensuring our highway, central, and construction division vehicles are fully operational and ready to deploy at any time. You will also maintain and repair our varied fleet of plant, equipment, and vehicles in strict compliance with operator undertakings and vehicle construction and use regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspections & Compliance: Inspect our HGV and light commercial fleet in line with DVSA and operator licence compliance requirements.
  • Diagnostics & Repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical components across plant engines, vehicle electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Routine Maintenance: Conduct routine servicing (replacing fluids, lubricants, and parts) to ensure maximum vehicle and plant longevity.
  • Scheduling: Plan future maintenance sessions in coordination with the Transport Manager.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous, up-to-date maintenance logs, booking all parts used to specific vehicles or plant machinery.
  • Stock & Workshop Control: Order parts and lubricants via the company PO system, check weekly waste oil tank levels, and maintain tools in line with safe systems of work (SSOW).

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience: Proven track record as an HGV mechanic, ideally working with commercial vehicles, plant machinery, or within a busy workshop environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: A sound understanding of vehicle mechanics, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
  • Compliance: Up-to-date knowledge of DVSA regulations and operator licence compliance.
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Licences: A valid UK Driving Licence is required. An HGV Licence is highly advantageous.
  • Attributes: A proactive, safety-focused professional who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
