Forge Technician

Birmingham

Salary: £54,000 - £55,000 + Overtime + Specialist Training + OEM Courses

Shifts: 4 on 4 off (Days)

A vacancy has arisen within the Forge Department for a Forge Technician reporting to the Production Manager, working on a 4x4 Full Continental Day shift pattern.

Responsibilities

  • The safe operation of the forging press, ensuring all outlined requirements related to the product quality and equipment parameters are adhered to.
  • Effective communication within the Forge Department, specifically relating to the transfer of product between RUMX and Davy Presses.
  • Ensuring all equipment is maintained to a standard which enables the business requirements to be achieved.
  • Emphasis on breakdown elimination and problem solving, along with preventative and non-intrusive maintenance on the RUMX Forge.
  • Direct input into the continuous improvement culture, which will include individual project ownership.

Qualifications

  • Skill base that includes either electrical or mechanical maintenance, ideally an Apprenticeship.
  • Problem‑solving skills.
  • Metal manufacturing technical knowledge and experience.
  • Competence working with heavy machinery.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift truck (although FLT training will be given).
  • Conversant with a Total Planned Maintenance (TPM) approach; drive and control systems.
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of current safe working practices.
