  • Senior Business Development Manager | BMS / Building Controls | London & South East
  • What you'll actually be doing and why it matters

This is a business development role for someone who wants genuine influence over growth strategy, target markets and client relationships, not just a sales target.

You'll join an established BMS business at a key stage of its growth, working closely with senior leadership while being supported by experienced technical, estimating, project and service teams.

Your remit will combine managing and developing a substantial existing client base with creating new business opportunities across London and the South East.

You'll own the full sales journey from initial engagement through to proposal, negotiation, contract award and handover.

You'll be trusted to develop strategic relationships with end users, consultants, facilities management providers, contractors and key decision-makers across the BMS market.

  • Why this move could be better
  • Influence the sectors, clients and routes to market the business pursues.
  • Work directly alongside senior decision-makers who are actively investing in growth.
  • Manage existing key accounts while building your own strategic pipeline.
  • Be supported by dedicated technical and operational teams throughout the sales process.
  • Join a structured onboarding programme rather than being left to succeed alone.

Essentials

To be successful, you'll ideally bring

  • A proven track record in BMS, BEMS, building controls or smart buildings business development.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK building controls market and its routes to market.
  • Experience winning and developing business with consultants, end users, contractors and FM organisations.
  • The ability to manage medium and long-term opportunities involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Technical credibility, with knowledge of BMS solutions and multi-manufacturer environments such as Trend and Tridium.
  • Strong commercial awareness, presentation and negotiation skills.

This is not a role for someone whose experience has been limited to inbound enquiries, account maintenance or transactional sales.

You'll be expected to create opportunities, develop strategic relationships, manage an existing client portfolio and take ownership of the complete sales cycle.

Your first six months will include a structured onboarding programme designed to give you a strong platform for success.

You'll gain a detailed understanding of the business, existing accounts, live opportunities, technical capabilities and growth plans, before progressively taking ownership of proposals, pricing, negotiations and longer-term account development.

  • Practicalities
  • London and South East customer base.
  • Hybrid working with a blend of home working and client visits.
  • Company car or allowance.
  • Sales bonus linked to agreed on-target delivery.
  • Contributory pension scheme.
  • Private healthcare.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays and one additional charity day.
  • Laptop, mobile phone and expenses.
  • Potential eligibility for the company's EMI share option scheme.

You must have a Right To Work in the UK - No sponsorship is available.
