Lead a team delivering multi-site decarbonisation M&E (PV, heat pumps, LED, electrical) projects nationally. Set the standard, build the team, deliver the results.
You’ll run programmes end-to-end — feasibility to power-on — across live sites with measurable savings. The scope covers Solar PV, ASHP/GSHP, LED upgrades and the electrical distribution that supports them. You’ll set the delivery method, tighten planning/procurement/reporting, and build a capable team while staying close enough to the engineering to keep quality high. This function is in growth, so there’s real scope to shape the delivery strategy and direction. You’ll build and manage a multi-disciplinary team and make sure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard.
What this means for you:
- Real scope, not lip service: you set the playbook and standards; people follow your method across multiple sites.
- Visible impact: kWh and £ saved you can point to; decarbonisation targets met because of your decisions and your team.
- Team to build and develop: hire, coach and structure the group the way you know it should run.
- Commercial say-so: you own the P&L/forecasting and handle JCT/NEC, so outcomes and margins are in your hands.
- Less firefighting: earlier planning and tighter reporting = fewer last-minute scrambles.
What you’ll be doing:
- Programme delivery: plan, control costs, schedule, manage risk and oversee commissioning. Aim for on-time, on-budget, to-spec outcomes across public sector, retail and leisure portfolios (typically £1m+). Standardise how work gets done so results are repeatable.
- Technical coordination: bring together PV, heat pumps (air/ground), LED packages and electrical distribution so systems perform as designed and savings show up in the data.
- Stakeholder management: keep clients, consultants and the supply chain aligned. Report progress clearly to senior leadership.
- Safety and compliance: build CDM and HSE into the plan from the start.
- Team development: mentor PMs and engineers; set clear KPIs (time, budget, quality, H&S, margin, client satisfaction, sustainability).
What you’ll bring (must-haves):
- Leadership: delivered complex multi-site M&E/renewables programmes (£1m+).
- Technical: solid grounding in Solar PV, ASHP/GSHP, LED and electrical distribution.
- Commercial & contracts: P&L ownership/forecasting; confident with JCT/NEC.
- Governance & approvals: CDM/HSE leadership; experience with DNO/UKPN connections and planning approvals.
One honest challenge: Project scale and stakeholder processes, timelines and approvals can slow things down. Get ahead of approvals early and keep everyone updated to stay on schedule.
What good looks like: Your team delivers on time and to spec, margins are achieved, a repeatable delivery method is in place, clients return, and milestones land when planned.
