This role leads CRU’s financial planning and analysis function, delivering decision-ready commercial insight that strengthens market intelligence, independent analysis, and customer-centric solutions. Partnering with senior stakeholders, the role evaluates ROI, pricing and deal economics, sales-to-revenue performance, and acquisition opportunities - building a best-in-class FP&A function that scales with revenue and product complexity, underpinned by integrity, collaboration, excellence, and client focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the commercial insight agenda, translating performance questions into clear analyses, narratives, and recommendations that inform commercial priorities.
- Lead monthly and quarterly financial close analysis, variance explanations, and presentation-ready management reports and board packs.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, and executive decision-support for sustainable, profitable growth.
- Develop, stress-test, and challenge business cases for new products, projects, and investments, ensuring assumptions, risks, and expected returns are transparent and decision-ready.
- Leverage data and ThoughtSpot reporting to deliver timely, actionable insight - spotting opportunities, risks, and performance trends early and recommending clear next steps.
- Partner with senior leaders across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Communities/Events, and Product to shape commercial decisions and align priorities through evidence-based analysis.
- Define, track, and improve core SaaS metrics: ARR, MRR, NRR, gross retention, churn, ACV, CAC, CAC payback, LTV, contribution margin, and cohort economics.
- Define and govern ROI and investment appraisal standards for commercial initiatives (e.g., go-to-market activity, product propositions, pricing actions), including post-investment reviews and benefit tracking.
- Develop and monitor sales-to-revenue analytics (e.g., pipeline-to-bookings-to-revenue conversion, retention/renewal where applicable), ensuring consistent KPI definitions and actionable insights.
- Strengthen data governance for commercial finance by improving metric definitions, data quality checks, reconciliation points, and documentation with Finance Systems and Data teams.
- Continuously improve commercial finance processes, templates, and tooling to increase speed-to-insight, reduce manual effort, and improve decision quality.
- Build and lead a high-performing, inclusive commercial finance team, supporting capability development and collaborative ways of working across CRU.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Professional Finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
Skills & Experience
- 6–8 years’ experience in corporate finance, FP&A, or commercial finance.
- Senior finance leadership experience with strong FP&A and business partnering capability.
- Experience in a SaaS or subscription business; strong familiarity with ARR/MRR, NRR, churn, cohort analysis, CAC, LTV, and contribution margin.
- Experience with modern analytics stacks (e.g., DBT, Snowflake, BigQuery).
- Advanced visualisation skills: ability to design intuitive dashboards and self-serve reports.
- Project experience implementing FP&A tools, ETL pipelines, or forecasting systems.
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail, while maintaining a strategic perspective.
