About the Role: CRU is looking for an analyst to cover the global silicon metal market. This is an important role in which the analyst will be responsible for leading CRU’s analysis in the segment, providing analysis on market demand, supply and cost structure. Silicon metal is an important commodity used in silicones in automotive and construction sectors, and in polysilicon for chips for the electronics sector, along with a key and growing role in the renewable energy sector, through its use in solar panels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed market research and supply-demand analysis for silicon metal.
  • Analyse production costs at both the asset level and across the global industry.
  • Take editorial ownership of two flagship products: Silicon Metal Market Outlook (includes demand, supply, and price forecasts) and Silicon Cost Service (provides asset-level cost modelling and projections).
  • Support research in adjacent and related markets.
  • Build and maintain a global network of industry contacts to enhance market insight.
  • Engage directly with clients—presenting research findings and representing CRU at conferences and industry events.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Geology, Economics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with a creative and methodical approach to modelling.
  • Experience in data modelling or economic forecasting is a plus.

Skills & Experience:

  • Understanding of commodity markets and a genuine interest in becoming a global expert in silicon metal.
  • Prior analytical or commercial experience in metal markets is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in report writing and delivering presentations.
  • Ability to build and present a compelling sectoral narrative supported by robust data.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively across time zones and departments.
