Flexible working – London based

My client is an award-winning alternative lender in the consumer funding space with expertise within B2C funding, probate & family law lending (HNW focused). Trading since 2018, they are a profitable company now entering the next phase of their growth journey. It’s an exciting time to join them after a £100M funding line has closed – a combination of both equity and debt in 2025, which enabled automation & tech developments ensuring a competitive offering, deal turnaround, and reputation so far in 2026.

We are now looking for a talented portfolio manager to report into the Head of Credit & focus on ownership & development of 2 case managers and the loan portfolio.

  • Owning the loan book day-to-day – ensuring all material cases are actively managed, risks are identified early, and there are no “unknown unknowns”.
  • Driving case-level inputs into credit and funder reporting – ensuring portfolio reporting reflects the true risk position, not outdated assumptions.
  • Applying a risk-weighted view across the portfolio – prioritising time and resource based on exposure, risk, and likely outcomes.
  • Owning strategy for complex or high-risk cases – defining approach, making decisions (e.g. pursue vs settle), and ensuring execution aligns to desired outcomes.
  • Improving recoveries decisions and cost control – including risk/cost analysis of enforcement actions and oversight of legal spend.
  • Leading the Case Management and Recoveries functions - providing functional leadership to the Case Management Lead and Recoveries Lead, setting direction, driving accountability, and managing performance across both teams.
  • Building a more scalable Loan Operations function – improving processes, workflows, and system usage (Salesforce + other tools), reducing reliance on individuals.

Requirements:

  • Experience in lending, financial services, or legal environments.
  • Exposure to recoveries, restructuring, or enforcement processes.
  • Experience working with loan management systems or operational workflows (e.g. Salesforce-based lending platforms, Phoebus, Mambu, nCino, Aryza, or similar).
  • Background in consulting or fast-scaling businesses.
  • Experience using AI tools within a lending, legal, or financial services context.
