We’re working with a growing specialist property finance lender who are expanding their credit function and looking to appoint a Senior Underwriter to play a key role in deal structuring, credit decisioning and team development. This is a hands-on role with real influence — ideal for someone who enjoys complex lending, taking ownership of decisions and mentoring junior talent.
The Opportunity
- Lead underwriting on bridging & development finance transactions
- Structure and assess complex deals from enquiry through to completion
- Present credit papers and contribute at Credit Committee level
- Support and mentor a Junior Underwriter
- Play a key role in improving underwriting processes as the business scales
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assess new lending opportunities in line with credit appetite
- Analyse borrower strength, financials and exit strategies
- Review valuations, IMS reports and supporting documentation
- Structure deals with clear risk mitigation
- Manage transactions through to completion and first drawdown
- Monitor live loans including development drawdowns
- Build strong relationships with brokers, borrowers and external partners
- Act as an escalation point for complex cases
What They’re Looking For
- Strong background in bridging and/or development finance underwriting
- Proven ability to structure and assess deals independently
- Experience presenting credit papers and supporting committee decisions
- Commercial mindset with sound credit judgement
- Comfortable managing multiple deals and stakeholders
- Previous mentoring or leadership experience is a plus
