Risk & Compliance Associate - Real Estate Finance
London
I’m working with an established specialist real estate lender who have an excellent reputation in the market, and they are looking to appoint a Risk & Compliance Associate.
With strong relationships across both borrowers and private investors, the business combines deep property expertise with a flexible, personal approach to lending. It’s an environment where you can work closely with the people originating, funding and managing transactions, gaining a clear understanding of the business behind the compliance requirements.
This role offers direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to help shape compliance processes as the business grows. For someone who enjoys varied responsibilities and being involved in day-to-day commercial decisions, it’s an opportunity to broaden your experience and make a visible contribution.
This is a varied, hands-on opportunity offering exposure across borrower and investor onboarding, financial crime, financial promotions and wider compliance.
Working closely with the Head of Operations and Compliance, you’ll help develop the controls and processes supporting the business’s growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing AML/KYC onboarding for investors, borrowers and corporate entities.
- Reviewing complex ownership structures, including SPVs, trusts and layered companies.
- Undertaking beneficial ownership, sanctions, PEP and source of funds/wealth checks.
- Completing enhanced due diligence, ongoing monitoring and periodic reviews.
- Reviewing investor communications and financial promotions.
- Supporting compliance monitoring, risk registers, policies and internal controls.
I’d be keen to speak with candidates bringing around 3–5 years’ relevant experience within real estate finance, commercial lending, private credit or a closely related environment.
Strong corporate AML/KYC experience and a good understanding of FCA financial promotion requirements are key. Experience working with Appointed Representative arrangements would also be relevant.
