Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Solihull.
Job Overview:As an Estimator/Quantity Surveyor at, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of commercial and industrial projects up to £5 million in value. You will be responsible for providing accurate cost estimates, managing budgets, and overseeing financial aspects of projects from inception through to completion. Key Responsibilities:
- Estimating: Prepare accurate cost estimates for projects, including material, labor, and subcontractor costs, while ensuring all scope of works are accounted for.
- Tendering: Review and evaluate tenders and submissions, ensuring competitive and accurate pricing.
- Cost Management: Monitor and control project costs throughout the lifecycle, identifying cost-saving opportunities and advising on value engineering solutions.
- Budget Control: Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets, tracking variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Contract Administration: Prepare and review contracts, terms, and conditions. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and monitor performance against agreed terms.
- Procurement: Assist with the procurement process, including identifying potential suppliers, obtaining quotes, and negotiating prices.
- Project Support: Provide ongoing financial and commercial support to project managers, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports on cost status, project progress, and financial forecasts to senior management and clients.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks to project costs or delivery schedules and propose mitigation strategies.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Estimator and/or Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, with a focus on commercial and industrial projects.
- Experience in managing projects up to £5 million in value.
- Strong knowledge of estimating software and construction cost databases.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commercial awareness with a focus on cost control and maximizing project profitability.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is desirable but not essential.
