Job Description

The Opportunity Assistant Estimator\\nThis is an opportunity to join a highly collaborative, team-based environment where you will receive on the job training, mentoring from very experienced colleagues, appropriate external training\\n\\nJob Purpose / Summary\\nSupporting your experienced colleagues and developing your own experience, knowledge and competence in the provision of cost estimates for materials and manpower, contract management, project scheduling, vendor management and procurement for projects ranging from £5k to £3 million.\\n\\nDuties and Responsibilities\\nAssist in on-site surveys and report writing\\nHelping to identify unique and innovative cost solutions in conjunction with the Design and Delivery Teams\\nHelping to develop sales opportunities with prospective and existing customers\\nMaintaining relationships and uncovering sales opportunities with existing customers\\nAssisting in generating technical proposals\\nReviewing / researching historical data and compiling summary reports to assist in developing guidelines and precedents for future estimates\\nPreparing take offs from drawings and direct site measurements\\nReading and understanding the common forms of construction contract in use today\\nReading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications\\nWorking with the project management team in establishing a bidders list, soliciting and evaluating subcontractor proposals and scopes of work\\nPreparing quantity surveys and reviewing project plans and specifications for constructability and value engineering\\nReading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications\\n\\nKnowledge & Experience\\nGood knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word\\nAnalytical, mathematical & computer skills, with critical thinking ability\\nSufficient Mathematics and English GCSEs, with Mathematics at a minimum of Grade C and higher learning grades for acceptance onto a Degree course in Quantity Surveying or other related Degree\\nExcellent communication skills\\nTo be prepared to travel around the UK to various sites with colleagues and independently as your experience develops\\nA full, clean UK driving license, or working towards\\n\\nSkills & Attributes\\n\\nCommunicating & Influencing\\n\\nExcellent communication skills, with the ability to develop tenacity and work proactively: developing positive relationships with all stakeholders including internal colleagues, clients and supply chain\\n\\nCommercial Awareness\\n\\nAn acumen for grasping the importance of how dynamic and effective pricing of projects win business, whilst achieving targeted profit margins\\n\\nPlanning & Organising\\n\\nExcellent organisational skills and time-management ability; able to deliver quality work in a timely manner\\n\\nSelf-Development\\nThrough on the job learning, peer mentoring, internal/external courses and working towards achievement of Degree\\nKeep up to date with industry sector and product developments, both externally and across the Group\\nExternal and Internal Networking
