Our client has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their busy and vibrant operations team.

This is a full-time & permanent position. The successful candidate will be based at the head office in Nottingham with regular site visits.

They have vast experience in building high-quality projects in challenging circumstances, and through high commitment and talent, they are able to unlock and deliver large-scale complex construction projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Purpose:
To provide quantity surveying support under the direction of the Quantity Surveyor in respect of the commercial and surveying aspects, including new build, refurbishments, and design & build projects.

To assist the Quantity Surveyor in carrying out quantity surveying duties with other team members and provide effective financial and contractual control on all allocated contracts.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Quantity Surveyor with all duties as directed.
  • Provide comprehensive financial and surveying information required by Senior Management.
  • Measure works for payment and final account purposes; keep record of dimensions.
  • Prepare and submit valuations and final accounts.
  • Record and agree on extra works and day works.
  • Record relevant events for delay, loss, and expense claims.
  • Monitor and ensure full payment for all work claimed and certified.
  • Measure, certify, and agree on subcontractor accounts.
  • Assist site management with statistics and surveying information for client meetings.
  • Liaise with client representatives and team members to ensure effective communication.
  • Support operations staff on surveying matters.
  • Provide estimating department with statistical information for new rates.
  • Stay updated with new technology and legislation as appropriate.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree-level qualification relevant to the field.
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
