As the Pump Technical Manager, you will take national responsibility for the technical oversight, training, and operational support of wastewater pumping station systems across our franchise network. This field-based role combines engineering expertise with leadership and project delivery, and involves regular travel across the UK. You will play a key role in supporting our franchise partners, leading technical training, resolving system challenges, and contributing to the continuous development of our pumping operations.
This position is ideal for an experienced pump engineer ready to take on a broader leadership remit or a current technical manager seeking a new challenge in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Responsibilities:- You will work closely with the commercial team to support the design, specification, and technical validation of pump systems.
- Leading on training, you'll ensure franchisees and internal teams are fully equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
- You’ll manage and oversee installation and commissioning projects when required, troubleshoot and resolve system issues, and implement preventative maintenance strategies.
- As the technical lead, you will maintain a high standard of compliance, ensuring all activities align with industry regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental requirements.
- Regular site visits, hands-on support, and collaboration with sales, estimating, and operations teams will be integral to your role.
- The role requires a solid background in pump and control systems, wastewater engineering, and fluid dynamics.
- You should have at least five years experience in pump station maintenance or engineering, alongside strong diagnostic skills and familiarity with UK Water Industry Standards.
- Experience leading or mentoring technical teams is essential, along with an ability to communicate complex issues clearly to a range of stakeholders.
- A degree or HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred, though equivalent time-served experience will be considered.
- Certifications such as CSCS, Confined Space Training, 18th Edition, IOSH/NEBOSH, or Train the Trainer are desirable.
- Proficiency in pump selection software and telemetry systems is also beneficial.
- A full UK driving licence is essential, and as this is a national role, you must be willing and able to travel extensively across the country, including overnight stays where necessary.
