We are currently recruiting for a Housing Support Worker to join a supported housing service in Leeds. This is a temporary, full-time opportunity with the potential to become permanent for the right person.

The service supports adults living in social housing who may be experiencing issues with drug and alcohol misuse, alongside other challenges that can affect their ability to maintain stable accommodation and live independently.

The Role

As a Housing Support Worker, you will provide practical and emotional support to residents, helping them maintain their accommodation, develop independent living skills and access appropriate support services. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one support to residents within a supported housing environment
  • Building positive, professional relationships with residents
  • Supporting individuals experiencing drug and/or alcohol misuse
  • Helping residents maintain their tenancy and accommodation
  • Identifying and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns
  • Supporting residents to access health, welfare and specialist support services
  • Encouraging independent living and positive lifestyle choices
  • Helping residents work towards individual support plans and personal goals
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential records
  • Liaising with external agencies and support providers where required
  • Promoting a safe, respectful and supportive environment for all residents

About You

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, resilient and confident working with vulnerable adults. You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a Housing Support Worker, Support Worker, Hostel Worker, Recovery Worker, Outreach Worker or similar role
  • Experience supporting people affected by drug and/or alcohol misuse
  • An understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations
  • A genuine commitment to helping people improve their circumstances
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider support team
