The Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Network) at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust is responsible for:
- Delivering and maintaining secure, high‑performing digital infrastructure across acute and community sites.
- Managing servers and storage, ensuring compliance with NHS security standards and DSPT Toolkit requirements.
- Resolving complex technical issues within agreed SLAs, minimizing downtime through proactive monitoring and alerting systems.
- Leading and supporting technical projects, contributing specialist expertise in server, networking, telecoms, or architecture domains.
- Supervising and developing infrastructure engineers, ensuring effective team coverage and operational continuity.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including Croydon Council, NHS Trusts, and Clinical Commissioning Groups.
- Participating in on‑call rota to provide critical out‑of‑hours support for infrastructure incidents and service continuity.
Management Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of infrastructure objectives and act as lead specialist for servers and storage.
- Support development and implementation of BCP and Digital Infrastructure strategies.
- Manage day‑to‑day infrastructure tools and systems.
- Liaise with internal/external stakeholders.
- Oversee risk identification and mitigation, and alert senior management.
- Direct recovery efforts during major infrastructure incidents and lead service improvement programmes.
- Train technical staff, conduct performance reviews, and develop training programmes.
- Contribute to strategic planning for servers and storage within the infrastructure team.
Operational Responsibilities
- Deliver infrastructure services in line with SLAs, ensuring maximum system availability and resilience.
- Manage configuration, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting of server hardware/software.
- Implement data backup strategies and ensure recovery of systems and data.
- Monitor system performance and capacity, reporting findings and lead proactive improvements.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and respond to NHS CareCERT.
- Oversee change management process.
Additional Responsibilities
- Manage financial and physical resources of infrastructure assets.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and develop solutions for complex technical issues.
- Lead infrastructure‑related projects.
- Communicate complex technical information to non‑technical stakeholders.
